O Future is a Copenhagen-based art collective founded by visual artist Katherine Mills Rymer and composer Jens Bjørnkjær. Working at the intersection of moving image, sound and installation, the collective produces work that moves between the gallery, the stage and the screen without allegiance to any single form.

Katherine's practice spans 3D animation, video, prose and performance — built on a conceptual rigour that draws from art history, esoteric systems and the textures of contemporary life. Jens composes for film, theatre and the collective's own projects, with credits including Lars von Trier, Ai Weiwei, the Royal Danish Theatre and a Netflix No.1 documentary.

The practice is defined by a refusal of the decorative. Every project begins with a question that the work is trying to answer — and ends when the question has been lived with long enough to become something else.

O Future's practice operates at the intersection of the concrete and the esoteric, between the past and the unfurling uncertain future, the handmade and the computational, the deeply analogue and the thoroughly networked. We are interested in what the internet has done to interiority — how the acceleration of image culture, the flattening of temporal experience, and the dissolution of collective meaning have produced a new kind of subject: always connected, perpetually stimulated, and profoundly alone with the oldest questions.

Our ongoing work moves between audio/visual installation, film score, live performance, and publication — always with the same underlying preoccupation: what does it mean to make something, to insist on making something, in a moment that has made meaning newly uncertain? Our answers, we posit, seem to hide in the sweaty human animal playing in the dark against the blue light that breaks our sleep. Always yearning, and never found.
